Perspectives on two stone bridges
Two stone bridges we run into while wandering around in Albania and Kosovo.
* The Terzi Bridge - on the road linking Prizren to Gjakova - Kosovo
* The Mesi Bridge - in the village of Mes, close to the city of Shkrodër - Albania
They were both built in the 18th century during the Ottoman empire. Both bridges had economic importance as they constituted important links between villages. Nowadays, besides both of them there are modern bridges. What remains is their beauty, their cultural value and a proof of the skills of craftsman who built them in a period of scarce finance and technological opportunity. Not only architecturally fascinating, but also resilient to adverse weather conditions, floods, and lack of maintenance.
No water under them at the time of our visit. It was great fun to walk on, under, and besides them looking for different details and perspectives.
Enjoy the gallery! :-)
